Be a part of our life saving mission of building healthier lives free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Accountable for the implementation of two Heart Walks (Clark County and Dayton) and the My Heart My Life Cause to meet and exceed the aggressive 2012 event goal of $350,000. Builds relationships with companies, customers, sponsors and donors. Works with volunteer committees related to event activities. Tracks progress and reports to Senior Director to ensure goals are met and best practices are adhered to.

  • Accountability for the implementation of events based on nationally established best practices for the Heart Walk and My Heart My Life program.
  • Develops written plans including timetables, volunteer and staff responsibilities, income goals and expense budgets and seeks review and approval from Senior Director.
  • Builds positive strategic business relationships with key decision makers in the defined market.
  • Implements a 3 year Walk business plan to maximize revenue and build brand identity.
  • Responsible for recognition of volunteers.
  • Reports on progress to affiliate management team as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the market, the affiliate and to the national center as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as needed around event schedules.
  • Ability to travel 4 days/week (limited to no overnight traveling) nights and weekends as needed.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 3 years experience in management of special events fundraising, sales, marketing and public relations functions.
  • Ability to close face to face sales and sponsorships.
  • Ability to show proven success with achieving sales/fundraising goals.
  • Strong volunteer recruitment and management skills, demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service and motivation to business and social leaders.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Demonstrated professional and mature interaction with other staff and leadership volunteers, sponsors, donors and others to engage them toward the achievement of event goals.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with MS Office suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
