The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), part of the State University of New York and an internationally renowned college of art, design, business and technology with a strong emphasis on liberal arts, invites nominations and applications for a Department Coordinator.


Job Description:

Under the Direction of the Faculty Services Manager, the Department Coordinator provides a broad range of organizational and administrative support to the Office of Faculty Services, and coordinates with the department in managing the day-to-day operations of central faculty-related activities and transactions.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Provide ongoing support in faculty-related transactional activities and course of actions related to key pathways for promotion, reappointment, sabbatical, research leave, tenure, Certificate of Continuous Employment, full- and part-time faculty hires/rank/step and contact hours/teaching assignments.
  • Coordinate with organizing and managing supporting documentation, including course evaluations relevant to these processes.
  • Communicate with departments and schools/divisions relevant to quality completion of all faculty services processes.
  • Assist the department with online course evaluations set-up, download, and distribution.
  • Provide technical support to the Office of Faculty Services, including assisting with creating SmartSheet dashboards, and reports.
  • Assist the faculty services department with training staff on related technical improvements created for strengthening office functions.
  • Organize and maintain the faculty services office digital files and shared Google workspaces.
  • Track ongoing and special projects including follow-up and tracking transactional workflows that support faculty affairs.
  • Support updating database which includes tracking tenure-track non-classroom faculty timelines and classroom assistant hours.
  • Provide assistance through cross-team collaboration and responsibilities that aid in supporting department leading operations and faculty-related activities.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2-4 years of appropriate business experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Experience providing office administration including knowledge of administrative policies and procedures in an institution of higher education preferred.
  • Must possess the skills to prioritize a wide variety of assignments and perform numerous tasks in a fast-paced, deadline driven office environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills are essential.
  • Working knowledge of the Banner administrative system is a plus.
  • Candidate must have experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, possess strong organizational skills and pay attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), Google Workspace, and Smartsheet.
  • Must possess and demonstrate excellent customer service skills and ability to work with a diverse constituency.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with a team.


Additional Information:

Please note all offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of the background check process.

Salary

Salary: $60,685 - $65,035 per year

The dictates the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment. Hiring Salary: $60,685 to $65,035 per year with step increments per Salary Schedule 92, after one year of service and annually thereafter.

Work Schedule

Days/Hours: M-F, 9am-5pm, in person; work schedule subject to change based on needs of the department.
