About the Role:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Labor & Employment Counsel to join our Human Resources Labor Relations team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing strategic counsel on labor and employment matters, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and supporting the Company with its ten (10) collective bargaining agreements across various departments.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Offer expert legal advice and guidance on labor and employment law issues, including hiring practices, discrimination, harassment, employee benefits, terminations, and compliance matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various employment-related agreements, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure legal compliance.
  • Partner with HRBP's and operational team members to achieve best practice outcomes.
  • Foster strong relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and strategic guidance.
  • Provide guidance on internal investigations and recommend actions in response to employee complaints and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations to prevent disputes and litigation.
  • Assist with all aspects of litigation, including case assessment, strategy development, and discovery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop training programs on compliance and best practices.
  • Support outside counsel and the Company in labor and employment-related disputes, including administrative proceedings and arbitrations.
  • Conduct thorough legal research to provide well-informed counsel and support in defense of employment claims.
Who we are looking for:
  • Juris Doctor degree and licensed to practice law in good standing in the states of New Jersey and Illinois.
  • 5+ years of labor law/employment experience with completion of formal studies in labor law preferred.
  • Experience with a range of legal employment matters including employee handbooks, OFCCP, EEOC, ADA, FMLA, wage and hour laws, immigration, and employee benefits.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and a collaborative attitude.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Positive attitude and ability to adapt to the demands of a growing company.
  • Must reside in the Parsippany, New Jersey area and be in the office three (3) days per week, with two days remotely.
