Maintenance Mechanic I - Grade 14
This is a union position

Basic Functions:
Responsible for maintenance & inspection of basic mechanical/structural elements and associated equipment including items such as hot water heaters, generators, water cooling towers, circuit breaker panels, plumbing, exterior lighting & upkeep of grounds. Repairman must handle essential functions outlined below and expeditiously and independently, evaluate, prioritize & communicate when to call in a Specialist.

Essential Functions:

Perform preventive maintenance & basic repairs on facility equipment i.e., check & service oil, change fuses, solenoids, valves, bulbs, filters, belts & reset breakers.

Basic electrical troubleshooting to include using a multimeter, running conduit & wires, replacement of motors, fans, light fixtures, ballasts, switches & outlets.

Plumbing: Run, thread & sweat pipes, clear clogged water lines and toilets, troubleshoot and replace sumps, faucets, fill valves, flush valves & flappers.

Carpentry: Basic drywall, cove base and paint repairs. Install white boards, flat screens, shelving, pre-manufactured office furnishings, replace ceiling tiles.

Assist with and perform Preventative Maintenance inspections.

Mechanical capability to perform basic mechanical teardown of units using blue prints, when needed.

Assists shipping with building crates and using spray foam tools to pack units, when needed

Assists stockroom in moving material between departments, when needed.

Assists Induction with uncrating, inducting & moving units to test or teardown, when needed.

Assists with routine inspections and collection of hazardous materials & waste.

Perform other duties as assigned

Skill Set:

Proficient with hand tools & electrical tools including but not limited to: Drills, torches, hammers, wrenches, pliers, nail guns, flukemeter, stud finder, skillsaw, micrometers, calipers, grinders, air compressors, sump pumps & impact wrenches.
Certified or willing to be certified in the use of forklifts, platform lifts, hand trucks & scissor lifts.
Trade School educated preferred, not required.
