Position Summary:
The Open
Innovation Open Science Lab at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is
seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join the lab. The lab mainly works in
crowd-empowered knowledge management with a focus on the dynamics of large-scale
open challenges for social innovation and scientific development. The lab aims
to conduct interdisciplinary research that integrates social scientific
theories and computational methodologies to understand the behavioral
mechanisms underlying human collective intelligence and collective action.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and perform
data collection and data pre-processing using relevant algorithms.
- Perform large-scale data analysis and advanced statistical modeling using
computational tools.
- Carry out data visualization using relevant algorithms and/or software.
- Contribute by preparing journal publications, conference submissions, and
grant proposals.
- Mentor and coordinate undergraduate and/or graduate research assistants.
- Develop collaborative research projects on topics of shared interest with the
PI.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Candidates
should have a PhD in data science, computer science, engineering, informatics,
human-computer interaction (HCI), management information systems, or related
fields.
- Strong
mathematical, statistical (e.g., Bayesian modeling and optimization) and
programming skills (Python, MATLAB, R), evidence of research productivity, and
strong communication skills are required.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience
prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the
satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and
experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience with
large-scale datasets is a plus.
