Summary

A Fixed Income Trader-Managed Trade Desk is responsible for executing and managing trades in fixed-income (FI) securities on behalf of clients. They work closely with portfolio managers and research analysts to develop and implement trading strategies that align with the clients' investment objectives. This role involves monitoring market conditions, analyzing economic data, and executing trades in various FI products, such as government bonds, corporate bonds, and mortgage-backed securities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for executing all taxable trades for both internal and external managed trades.
  • Work directly with other broker-dealers to ensure the best execution.
  • Responsible for working with advisors on securities. This also includes getting bids on securities for those clients looking to liquidate accounts.
  • Will be aware of and report suspicious trading activity that may be a violation of rules, policies, or procedures directly to their Managing Director/Head Trader.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of every trade they do and make appropriate corrections when necessary.
  • Responsible for assisting advisors with products.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of financial markets.
  • Ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
  • General understanding of how the various fixed-income markets work.
  • Knowledge of compliance trade reporting and rules surrounding managed account trading.
  • Should have a complete understanding of the capital markets, with a deep understanding of the products they trade.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum Required 2+ years of experience in the brokerage industry.

Licenses & Credentials

  • Minimum Required: SIE, FINRA Series 7, 57, and 63 or obtain within six months from start date.

Systems & Technology

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, focused on Excel and Word.
  • Proficient with Thomson One.
  • Working knowledge of all fixed-income trading platforms (Bloomberg, Tradeweb, MarketAxess).
