The business unit you will be joining

New York Life's Wealth Management Solutions is comprised of NYLIFE Securities LLC (broker-dealer) and Eagle Strategies LLC. Eagle Strategies provides retail investment advisory services through about 1,250 affiliated investment advisor representatives (IARs) and more than $20B in assets under management (AUM). Eagle IARs provide comprehensive investment advisory and financial planning capabilities. Through our "protection first" planning philosophy and backed by solutions that leverage New York Life's financial strength and mutuality, our advisors can tailor a plan to help their clients reach their long-term goals and withstand unforeseen fluctuations through insurance, annuities, brokerage (including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and specialty asset classes), and other products.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Corporate Vice President, Portfolio Specialist for Eagle Strategies LLC. The role will provide flexibility to work remote. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide support to advisers in preparation of recommendations or in presenting solutions to clients.
  • Assist IARs either in-person, remotely via telephone or other electronic mediums in assessing investment management needs and offerings for clients.
  • Prepare formal cases and recommendations analyzing investment alternatives for clients; including analyzing existing investment portfolios and comparing and contrasting the different management options available with the Lifetime Wealth Portfolios (LWP) platform.
  • Interface extensively with various personnel with the Wealth Management Distribution unit and collaborate to triage the overall division's response and support of specific adviser case opportunities and client requests.
  • Prepare training content for the various learning modules currently under consideration for the Wealth Management course and curriculum path.
  • Interface with the Wealth Management training unit to develop various materials and collateral necessary to adequately prepare new IARS to serve clients' investment management needs within an advisory capacity.
  • Deliver in-person, on-site training with General Offices (GOs) and as part of larger, formal adviser conferences, as required.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis on the performance and positioning of the investment managers available on the LWP platform. Periodically publish reports on a topical basis for adviser use with clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required. CFA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Series 7 and 66 required.
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience working within the investment management division of a wirehouse, independent/regional RIA, or insurance broker-dealer.
  • Prior sales or investment consulting experience required.
  • Experience working with insurance agents in a career agency structure a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of the capital markets and be capable of explaining complex investment management concepts and theory to IARs and clients.
  • Superior quantitative skills and be facile in differentiating between various investment management offerings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and have strong knowledge of investment research tools such as Morningstar Direct and Bloomberg.
  • Understanding of insurance products and how they can be incorporated into solutions to problems identified within a comprehensive client financial plan.
  • A minimum level of travel is expected and required.
